Does eucalyptus deter spiders? Especially Brown Recluses and Black widows?

I live in an area that is very heavily populated with spiders especially brown recluses and black widows and my friend told me that placing eucalyptus in windows, around door ways and in closets, especially around shoes will deter spiders from coming in and hiding in those places. Is this true?
