How to persuade cat to go out hunting?

When the cat is outside, I would sit outside with him and watch to and make sure he doesn't rome else were. Its not a good idea to let your cat wander aimlessly about, it could get lost if it doesn't know your neighborhood well. It could get into a cat fight, or even get run over. That's why i think letting cats and other pets outdoors is not necessary.
